Out & About with OBAC

Getting out and meeting our members and future members is really important to OBAC. The gallery below shows where we've been lately. Be sure to check out our event calendar to see where we'll be in the near future.

Canada Calling

Canada Calling, heard every Monday at 9:00 EST on Dave Nemo's popular morning show on XM Channel 171 and Sirius 147, gives listeners a taste of Canadian news and views. Ritchie & Nemo are pictured in his studio in Nashville.

Convoy Cure Trucks

OBAC was a proud supporter and sponsor of the world's first Convoy for a Cure in October 2008. OBAC will of course be involved in the second Convoy for a Cure event, scheduled for Oct. 3, 2009, beginning at the Fifth-Wheel Truckstop in Cornwall.

Troscar Award

OBAC executive director Joanne Ritchie receives her Troscar (Trucking Oscar) from Ray Wellman, co-organizer of the Sterling Truck Show. The Woman of the Year award was presented to Ritchie at the 2008 Sterling Truck Show for her significant contribution to the trucking industry, and she wanted to share the honor with the women who rode in the first all-woman Convoy for a Cure in October 2008.

Manitoba Polling Booth

Manitoba OBAC members pulling booth duty at the 2008 Winnipeg Truck Show in May pause for the camera. Pictured left to right are Cy MacDonald, Winnipeg, Shelley Moar, St. Laurent, and Allan Horobec, West St. Paul.

TWNA Award

OBAC's Joanne Ritchie took home the gold from the Truck Writers of North America (TWNA) annual awards at the 2008 Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, KY. Presenting Ritchie with the Best of Class award for Magazine Writing is Arvin-Meritor's Mike Pennington. Ritchie also won gold for her monthly column in Truck News magazine.

NASCAR Simulator

Ron Mermis and Joanne Ritchie pose with OOIDA's NASCAR simulator at the Technology & Maintenance Council's 2008 annual meeting in Orlando. The retired NASCAR Sprint Cup Series racer, currently set up as a simulator/trainer, tours U.S. truck stops and truck shows and is made its Canadian debut at the 2008 Fergus Truck Show. Watch for it again at this year's Fergus Truck Show.
