Final Week to Take Part in Owner-Operator Costs Survey

Owner-operators and small fleet owners have a unique opportunity to help provide a more complete picture of the cost of trucking in Canada by taking part in OBAC’s business costs survey. The survey will remain on-line until November 30, 2013.

The survey is part of a much larger project led by Transport Canada, which regularly monitors and reports on trucking costs in Canada. Only recently has the reporting been expanded to include owner-operators.

OBAC is working hard to make sure this important segment of the trucking industry is considered when government is undertaking research on the economics of trucking and examining trends in trucking costs.

The report, which is updated every three or four years, is widely used. The information gives government policy makers cost data for use when considering truck related policy changes, and the data is widely used by carriers to benchmark their cost performance, by shippers to rationalize their trucking costs, and by consultants doing feasibility and planning studies.

Once completed, the complete survey will be available on Transport Canada’s website, and participants in OBAC’s survey will be provided with a summary of the owner-operator segment analysis which is a useful benchmarking tool. Survey participants are also eligible to win one of several prizes.

The survey is available in both English and French.
