ESDC Publishes Draft Regs for Paid Medical Leave
Recent amendments to the Canada Labour Code included new standards
for leaves of absence, occupational health and safety requirements, and
pay equity.
Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) has now published proposed regulations in Canada Gazette, Part I, which are open for comments until August 15, 2022.
Bill C-3 will require federally-regulated workplaces to provide employees with up to 10 days of paid medical leave in each calendar year.
The Bill received Royal Assent in December 2021, but is not expected to come into effect until December 1, 2022, to give employers time to adjust their company policies and payroll.
